When we compare the standard Soulmate and Soulmate Classic, then the Soulmate Classic has more of that authentic P growl. It may be less of a multi purpose bass such as the standard Soulmate, it does have that specific vintage  character that a purist seeks after. Combined with the fatter but comfortable neck of the Soulmate Classic, this might just be that bass you were looking for.
